Blackhawks Decorate Chicago; What’s Up, Philly? Hawks, Flyers Posters Available Here

June 2, 2010

Well, we are finally here. After 82 regular season games, plus 16 and 17 playoff games respectably, the Chicago Blackhawks and Philadelphia Flyers have made it to the big show, the Stanley Cup Finals. Both teams are now in for the fight of their lives, for the greatest achievement in all of Hockey, to hoist Lord Stanleys Cup.

While this is a massively important event for both cities, one has stepped up to the plate more than the other.

Chicago has full on Stanley Cup fever. They have taken 2 of the cities most famous and memorable statues and decked them out in Blackhawks gear. The two statues that I am speaking of are the Michael Jordan in front of the United Center and the Lion in front of the Art Institute of Chicago. These pieces have made nation wide news and a focal point for hockey lovers far and wide.

Michael Jordan adorns a red Toews jersey and a while helmet.

After 2 games, and 2 wins by the Blackhawks, it seems that this publicity stunt may have sparked something. The Flyers seems flat and frustrated, while the Hawks have clearly been the dominant team.

While the lion is wearing a custom made over sized Blackhawks helmet.

With the series now going back to Philly can the high skill level of the Hawks be enough to take complete control of the series? Or will the sea of orange be enough to ignite a flame in the Flyers game. Only time will tell, but from where I am sitting being a Blackhawk is a pretty good thing right about now.

2009 Winter Classic Game At Wrigley Field

January 26, 2009

Commemorating one of the most remarkable days in the life of Wrigley Field, and one of the most amazing events in Chicago Blackhawks history! Now a New Year’s Day tradition, the NHL scheduled its 2009 Winter Classic in a stadium known for nearly a century of joyous days under the hot afternoon sun, but never for winter sports. Few could envision how the grand old park would look decked out for hockey on a winter’s afternoon. However, when it was all said and done (despite the game’s result, a loss to the hated Detroit Red Wings), all who saw it could certainly say: this was AMAZING!

From photographer Rob Arra’s legendary Everlasting Images collection, this spectacular print takes you back to that unique afternoon in Wrigleyville, giving you a breathtaking inside view of the scene during the pre-game festivities, with the players lined up at their respective blue lines for the singing of the National Anthem. From the normally lush green playing field now turned snow-white, to the fans packed with parka-wearing fanatics, to the familiar Wrigley Field features, to the rooftop parties across the street, to the Chicago skyline in the distance, it’s all here! Whether you were there in person on that wonderful winter day, are a serious Blackhawks or Red Wings fan, or are a lover of that legendary hockey arena called Wrigley Field, this is for you. Complete with sharp white border, commemorative title, and official NHL and Winter Classic logos, this is both a beautiful work of photographic sports art for your wall, and a valuable collector’s item for years to come.

NHL Skills Competition

January 23, 2009

When the National Hockey League first began playing All Star games in the 1947-1948 season, league executives had no idea that it would turn into the festival that it is today. When All Star weekend begins in Montreal on January 24, the spotlight will be on the players, the league and the city. It’s a big business now; sponsors, fans, celebrations. A big part of the NHL All Star weekend is the skills competition, held the day before the actual game. With the anticipation growing as the event draws near, Sports Poster Warehouse wants to make our predictions for All Star weekend in Montreal.

NHL All Star Weekend-First Time All Stars

January 23, 2009

This year’s NHL All Star Weekend in Montreal taking place this weekend is sure to be the toast of both the town and the league. There is already a huge buzz in Montreal, as it is the Canadien’s 100th year anniversary. Furthermore, Montreal is well represented at this year’s event, with Alex Kovalev, Mike Komisarek, Andrei Markov and Carey Price all representing the storied Montreal franchise. Even greater cause for excitement at this year’s All Star weekend is the appearance and emergence of several young stars making their All Star game debuts. So, in no particular order, Sports Poster Warehouse gives props to this new breed of NHL All Stars.
