2009 Winter Classic Game At Wrigley Field

January 26, 2009

Commemorating one of the most remarkable days in the life of Wrigley Field, and one of the most amazing events in Chicago Blackhawks history! Now a New Year’s Day tradition, the NHL scheduled its 2009 Winter Classic in a stadium known for nearly a century of joyous days under the hot afternoon sun, but never for winter sports. Few could envision how the grand old park would look decked out for hockey on a winter’s afternoon. However, when it was all said and done (despite the game’s result, a loss to the hated Detroit Red Wings), all who saw it could certainly say: this was AMAZING!

Vintage NHL Posters

January 15, 2009

Hi everybody, happy January!

Mid-winter is always a time of great anticipation in the world of sports. The Super Bowl is weeks away, March Madness is just around the corner and the NHL and NBA seasons are both increasing with intensity by the day. The staff here at Sports Poster Warehouse want to take time to honor some of the most memorable moments in sports. With that said, we will honor some of the great vintage and not so vintage memories, one major sport at a time, with hockey and the NHL being first up.

2. It was one of the most emotional moments in hockey history - after 20 years of thrilling crowds, setting records and winning cups, The Great One decided it was time to move on. In the pre-game ceremony, with friends and colleagues from throughout his career on hand, and a packed house at Madison Square Garden applauding as one, Wayne Gretzky gave his next-to-final salute to the fans while in uniform.

1. It was the greatest hockey series of all-time - Canada vs. Russia, The Summit Series 1972. The greatest rivalry in hockey, played out over the month of September, four games in Canada, four in Moscow. At the end of this greatest series came the greatest goal – Paul Henderson’s game-winner with less than a minute to play. It is a legendary moment in hockey history.

Sidney Crosby “Winter Classic” Poster – Great Retro Blue Uniform Picture of the Next One

February 19, 2008

Winter. Snow. Patriotism. Hockey. Sidney Crosby. Sidney Crosby

Sidney Crosby

It was a day that had a little bit of everything – an electric crowd of more than 71,000 fans at Buffalo’s Ralph Wilson Stadium, lots of snow and some great end-to-end hockey.

The memories will last forever because this wasn’t a game. It was an event treated as if were the Super Bowl of hockey. To cap it off, the NHL got its Hollywood finish: Sidney Crosby pumping his fists and celebrating his game-winning, shootout goal, the one sent to the Penguins to a 2-1 victory.

Sidney Crosby is believed by many to have innate talent comparable to that of Wayne Gretzky and one day may break Gretzky’s NHL scoring records, an assessment that has led to the nickname, The Next One.

The Winter Classic was a memorable event and for many, a once-in-a-lifetime experience. This poster celebrates that great day at the rink with absolute perfection. Do not miss your chance of adding this one to your collection. And also in stock, “Winter Classic Panorama”:
